The Magistrates’ Association decided last
week to reject a call for the age of criminal responsibility to go back to 14
years of age. The current age is 10 years. Our Head of Criminal Law, Andrew
Parker, was involved in the notorious ‘Sutton Burglary Posse’ case in the 90’s that
lead led to the change in the law from 14 to 10. We firmly believe that
children of pubescent years should not be liable to prosecution.
