Kieran Stapleton, a 21 year old man, shot a stranger randomly on a Salford street and then went to get a tear drop tattoo. The victim was a student from India, he was shot dead by ‘Psycho Stapleton,’ who walked away laughing. Anuj Bidve was shot when he had left his hotel to go to the shopping centre for the Boxing Day sales when he was shot by Stapleton. A few days later the killer went to a tattoo parlour to get the ‘murderer mark’ tattooed on his face. Stapleton told the jury that he had pleaded guilty to manslaughter just three weeks ago although he still wouldn’t admit to murdering a student from India. PCs net PCs

76 people were arrested yesterday after a raid operation to catch suspected internet paedophiles. Among those arrested were a referee, a pathologist, government employees, a firefighter, an outdoor activities instructor and a computer programmer. Known offenders, who had breached the conditions of the Sex Offender's Register, were also arrested. 40 police forces were involved in these raids, with 141 search warrants, during a 48 hour operation. Follow Up Sex Attacks

A special police child protection unit said that people who download child abuse images pose a risk of committing sex attacks on children. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection (Ceop) centre thinks that those caught with such images should be prioritised if they have access to children. Its report said internet images are becoming more extreme and sadistic. This comes after a committee of MPs heard child sexual exploitation was taking place "all over the country". A study of almost 100 case studies from 34 police forces, which found offenders who both possessed child abuse images and attacked children were "almost exclusively white males", with most aged between 19 and 45. Meanwhile, England's Deputy Children's Commissioner Sue Berelowitz has told the Commons Home Affairs Committee that girls as young as 11 were being expected to perform sex acts on "line-ups of boys", she said. Met Police Fail Victims of Crime

The Metropolitan Police have the worst record for dealing with crime victims, according to surveys. London police ‘victim satisfaction’ is dropping and is the lowest among the big city forces. The Metropolitan Police’s own surveys found that it was the lowest out of all 43 forces in England and Wales for satisfaction with police actions and treatment. It was also third from last on police follow up action. There are also poor services across London for young crime victims; they were treated more like perpetrators in some cases. If this carries on victims will be less likely to report crimes.

Sex Exploitation in a Town Near You

There are several gangs, of both boys and men, who have been sexually assaulting girls as young as 11. The gangs have used blackberry messenger to summon each other to these gang rapes. Children’s watchdog Sue Berelowitz said: “As one police officer leading a big investigation in a lovely, leafy part of the country told me, there isn’t a town, village or hamlet in which children are not being sexually exploited.” In one case, a young girl was repeatedly raped over several days by boys aged 14 and 15. The mobs use internet chat rooms to lure the young girls posing as friends. Some of the men filmed 2 of the boys having sex to use as blackmail to get them to lure girls for the men to rape. Violent Young Offenders

There is a new special unit in Hindley youth prison, Europe’s largest youth prison, to deal with the most violent and disruptive offenders. This wing in the prison has specially trained staff to deal with the sometimes extreme behaviour. The idea is to take the most disruptive teenagers out of the sprawling main wings of the prison where they can cause the most trouble. There is also easy access to mental health treatment and drug and alcohol services. Many more of these special units are now planned in other youth prisons across England and Whales.

Edward Putman, a used car salesman, won a large sum of £4 million in 2009 on a Lotto win and was still claiming benefits for nearly 2 years afterwards. Mr Putman asked for ‘no publicity’ from the Lotto organisers when he won the jackpot. He then carried on claiming income support and housing benefit. He apparently intends to plead guilty to two charges of dishonestly failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions of a change in circumstances and will pay the benefits money back.
